Program Description

Event Details

While many residents are familiar with the name "Massapequa," few know the tangible history of the 17th-century Lenape fort that once stood in their own backyard - Fort Massapeag, A National Historic Landmark. This program aims to bridge that community education gap, bringing the archaeological story, artifacts, and people of Fort Massapeag to life for a general audience. The session utilizes a showcase of historical images and maps from the book Hidden in Massapequa: Unearthing Fort Massapeag, researched, written, and designed by Dr. John DiMarco, St. John's University Professor of Mass Communication and Digital Design.
