Join us for this informative presentation courtesy of NYU Langone Health.
Every three minutes, someone in the United States dies from a stroke -- yet many people still don't know how to recognize the signs, leading to delays in getting life-saving care. Our presentation is designed to educate the community about the warning signs, symptoms, types, and treatments of stroke in an accessible and engaging way.
We introduce and explain the BEFAST acronym -- Balance, Eyes, Facem Arms, Speech, Time -- to help people quickly recognize the signs of a stroke and act fast.
This presentation is led by two experienced nurses with over 20 years of combined expertise in stroke care:
- Denise Grueneberg, MSN, RN, SCRN, Stroke Program Manager
- Marianne Turndahl, DNP, RN, SCRN, Quality Data Stroke Program Specialist
The session runs approximately 20 minutes, followed by a 10-minute Q&A, though we’re happy to adjust the timing based on your audience’s needs. We regularly present at community centers across Long Island and Manhattan, and our goal is to empower individuals of all ages to recognize stroke symptoms and respond quickly—because every second counts.
